Description
Orthodontics, as a specialized field of dentistry, has evolved remarkably since its inception, transitioning from primitive mechanical devices to highly sophisticated digital technologies. The earliest forms of orthodontic treatment can be traced back to ancient civilizations, where rudimentary techniques such as metal bands and wires were utilized to correct dental irregularities. However, it was not until the late 19th and early 20th centuries that orthodontics began to emerge as a formal discipline, largely due to the pioneering work of Edward H. Angle, known as the “father of modern orthodontics”.
